Yet again we were hosted by the fantastic Prince of Wales who put on a fine spread of curries for us to indulge in later in the evening. A superb time was had by all, as witnessed by the general hum of plotting moves and making sure your ork didn't fall over drunk...
The "Game du Jour" was Space Gits, a Mike Hutchinson game of orkular mayhem. The story goes that the main force of orks are out fightin' space marines in da galaxy, and the ones who are too drunk, unruly or just won't follow orders are left behind to "look after the planet". You can imagine how that goes.
It's a remarkably simple game (even SWS learned the rules in 5 minutes) with a great mechanic. Piles of dice represent how drunk a character actually is and each has to move his tower (our record was Tom Corbett with 14 dice) with his mini. Verrry carefully. If they topple, so does the mini until he buys sobriety or his mate gives him a kick to get up.
Movement is...um...haphazard. Those who paid attention in physics will remember the "Drunkards Walk equation" and that's exactly how it works. Roll 3 dice and move the number of pips towards each dice. You get there in the end.
The aim is to collect beer, denoted by the number of bottle caps you get.
Ultimately Team Red marginally beat Team Black by 22-19. A shallow victory but made all the sweeter by a tub of Celebrations to share.
Huge thanks to Carl Moreton for organising the game, to Lucy Moreton for organising us on the night (no mean feat and hugely appreciated) and for taking photos, and to the PoW for hosting us so splendidly. Other organisers behind the scenes include Big Chris K for getting tables and mattage sorted and there will definitely be someone I forgot.
Pics to follow.
